As an initiative to back sports in Uganda, Midland Group of Companies has offered to sponsor golfer Godfrey Mande, a former member of the Asian Tour and Sunshine Tour in Africa. He is set to play five tournaments in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for 45 days courtesy of MiDCOM.Chairman of Midland Group of Companies, Mr. Bhasker Kotecha handed over a cheque to Mande and challenged him to keep Uganda’s flag flying high. “We chose to give back to golf first and in Mande we see a professional of immense quality. He might not be able to win immediately but we hope he can improve his game, become gradually more competitive and be able to pass on some skills to youngsters and fellow professionals when he returns,” said Kotecha.
MiDCOM’s support to professional golfer Godfrey Mande has given his career a new lease of life. Mande is scheduled to leave on September 18th, five days before the MENA Tour gets underway. The tour includes the Dubai Creek & Yacht Club Open (September 23 – 26), Abu Dhabi Citizen Open (Sept 30 – October 3), Ras Al Khaimah Classic (October 14 – 17), Sheikh Maktoum Dubai Open (October 21-24) and MENA Tour Championship (October 28-31) with a total prize money of $275,000 (an estimated SHS 680m).
